Cable Main Line Drain Cleaning

When your main line backs up and water won’t go down, cable drain cleaning clears the blockage and restores flow.

A powered cable with a cutting head clears the blockage, including tree roots, so you can use your drains again. Every sewer line is different, so we start every job with a camera inspection. That tells us whether cable cleaning, hydro jetting, or another option best fits your home.

Signs Your Main Line Is Blocked

A clog in one sink is usually a local problem. A main line blockage affects the whole house.

Watch for:

  • Several drains backing up at once, especially toilets, tubs, and showers.

  • Water coming up through a basement floor drain when you run the washer or flush the toilet.

  • Gurgling sounds from toilets or drains.

  • Sewer odors in the basement or near floor drains.

  • Slow drains throughout the house that don’t improve with plunging.

If you notice more than one of these, the problem is likely in your main line.

How It Works

  1. Before any messy cleaning starts. We protect your floors with canvas tarps during the job and clean up any mess afterward. We strive not to leave a mess.

  2. Camera inspection. We run an HD camera through your line to find the blockage and identify the cause.

  3. Clear the line. We feed a powered cable with a cutting head through your cleanout access and cut through roots, grease, and debris.

  4. Test the flow. We run water to make sure everything drains properly.

  5. Camera check. We inspect the pipe again to check the before-and-after difference.

Common Causes of Main Line Clogs

  • Tree roots growing into pipe joints and cracks.

  • Grease and food waste that harden inside the pipe.

  • Wipes and paper products, including “flushable” wipes.

  • Scale buildup in older cast-iron lines.

  • Sagging or damaged pipe where debris collects.

Cable Cleaning or Hydro Jetting?

Cable cleaning is the quickest way to open a blocked line and get your drains working again. Hydro jetting cleans the entire inside of the pipe and works better for heavy grease or roots that keep coming back. The camera inspection shows which method your line needs, and we’ll explain our recommendation before we start.
